I keep my cell phone in my pocket when I drive – I can’t be distracted by it, if I can’t see it!

I try to stop myself being distracted by putting all electronic devices in the glove box before I start my journey.

I don’t text or talk or even touch my phone while driving!

Thanks for putting the device aside to focus on the drive, William! What encouraged you to make that permanent decision?

That’s a great idea. I also try to be mindful of not placing my phone somewhere that it may tempt me. What do you find works best?

I like your approach, Jamie! Have you or someone you know ever been personally affected by distracted driving?

What I do is I plug the phone into the USB so it can charge and play me some rocking tunes. The key for me is to make sure it is face down when I put it in the console, that way even if someone messages it I won’t see it until I arrive at the destination. I let the music be my copilot and we do just fine 😉

I don’t answer my cell phone when I am driving. I will pull over into a parking lot as soon as it is safe to do so to return the call.

I turn my cell phone off and only check it when parked or at a red light.

Always be prepared! If you have kids and are undertaking a long journey then bring things which will keep them occupied. Keep your mobile in the back seat so if it rings you won’t be tempted to look at it and always be aware at all times. You can be the safest driver in the world, but that won’t stop someone else making a mistake which would cost you – Stay aware!

How did I not even see this comment? I smoke cigarettes when I drive, which I know is horrible for my health, but it’s also horrible for me as a new driver.
