It’s a Friday good driving giveaway!

Update 3/9/12 6:15 p.m.: Congratulations to our contest winner, Patty from Jim Ellis Buick GMC – Mall of Georgia! Thank you for your thoughtful good driving tip that said: “Make it a hands-free day ya’ll. Take advantage of your vehicle’s voice activated features to make your phone calls. Stay safe on the road – my daughter’s driving on them!”

Happy Distraction Free Friday everyone! In honor of our ongoing Friday anti-distracted driving posts, I’m giving away a prize to the person who shares the most thoughtful good driving tip.

I recently went to California to drive the new Prius c, and while there, I received a branded Powerstick portable charger. While these kind of items are nice, I like to give away the fancier items to you – my faithful readers!

This Prius c Powerstick charges everything from your iPhone to your digital camera through USB charger adapters. It’s compact enough to fit in your pocket or purse and go with you anywhere.

What do you have to do to get it?

It’s easy. Simply post a ‘good driving tip’ in the comments below. I will choose the one as the lucky winner at the end of the day. So what are you waiting for? Get to commenting!

Something that is good to remember when you are driving is, “Look where you want to go!” It is simple, but will help you a lot out on the road.

Thanks for your suggestion, Adam! That’s a great tip and reminder, particularly in wet or inclement weather.

Patty – Excellent suggestion here as well. Which voice-activated feature is your favorite?

A tip that works well on the street as well as the track is to look as far down the road as possible.

The purpose is to be able to anticipate any situations that may arise while driving and by looking far ahead (and not directly at the back of the car in front) it is much easier to be aware of traffic conditions.

This allows you to drive more in an anticipatory mode as opposed to a reactive mode. It also sets your attention more acutely to the task of driving. From there your attention will set your intention.

    Cheers!
